Sticking to the virtual vote, as they should.

Hm, well, I guess what I’m asking is… is there any specifically legal reason the party can’t conduct a new primary? It sounds like the answer is no, and that the reason not to is that it would be expensive and inconvenient? Wouldn’t doing that confer additional legitimacy to the nominee? It sounds to me like you’re saying that one layer of democratic involvement is enough, even in a first-past-the-post system. Or does the process not much matter to you if the outcome is preferable?

To be clear, I left it blank for President in 2020 and voted hard to the left in every other race.

Every serious rival has already endorsed Kamala.

There’s no one else running and it would be impossible to hold another real primary prior to ballot deadlines. The candidate who had the nomination has withdrawn, released his delegates, and endorsed another candidate that the party essentially unanimously endorses.

There really is no issue here.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling due to various local/state laws on elections you couldn’t just call up the election board in every state and request they dial up an election for you next week.

Doesn’t matter if it’s undemocratic. We’re a republic.

Just realized a fun dynamic that’s going to work in our favor. The harder Biden hits at Trump the next few months, the more tempted Trump will be to attack Biden instead of Harris. Like if Biden just goes on TV daily and proclaims himself a better golfer than Trump, ol Donnie won’t be able to help himself.

I want DGAF Dark Brandon to do that and then when Trump challenges him to a match say, “You know what? Why don’t you drop out and then I’ll play you, you’re old as shit too.”

Hot take: VP picks matter zero.

Also we will spend months debating this shit but it’s going to come down to some totally stupid thing in one or two states in the last week. So I’m gonna try to check out.

This take isn’t hot at all.

Kamala is holding her first official campaign event atop the ticket in Milwaukee. Interesting choice!

David Sacks is having a normal one, suggesting Biden didn’t actually drop out but his Twitter was hacked.

Everything I’ve seen so far makes her look like the most improved potential candidate by a long shot. She might actually be a good campaigner now, and I think she’s way better suited running a general election campaign than a primary. Game on indeed.

Go back to begging Joe to bail you out Sacks. What a loser!

You asked about the constitution.

FWIW, I think things would overall be better if we didn’t have primaries at all, it leads to more extreme candidates since the people who participate in primaries are more extreme.

I didn’t just fall out of a coconut tree, but does she not seem way more polished now than she did in 2020?

The voters get to decide in November. The primary wasn’t really “open” in any meaningful sense given Biden was presumptive and essentially unchallenged. His wishes being honored fulfills the “democratic” process of the primary just fine in this context.

Early signs are the young people seem to love Kamala. I had no idea this would happen
