No one story in particular but media stuff on this election just seems to be getting more and more irritating. Harris campaign better be dialing up an absolutely onslaught of post debate interviews/call ins/opinion pieces/etc saying Trump too old, unfit and should step aside

I do think the title of this thread is misleading. Trump didn’t get a bounce, Kamala’s bounce was just after she announced. She’s still ahead more than the day Biden dropped out, but probably not enough to win.

It seems like an opening for Harris/Walz to go after this stuff. First, facts like immigrants commit fewer crimes. Second, reminder that Trump single-handedly killed the bipartisan immigration deal for purely political reasons. Finally, appeal to moderation: “this is exactly the kind of divisiveness and vitriol we want to turn the page on.”

I disagree here and think you may be underestimating the fear/(somewhat) closeted bigotry of boomer conservatives. Whether it’s family, overhearing conversations in doctors offices or older Fox News indoctrinated neighbors while on walks, it really seems like consensus among at least that cohort that immigrants are violent hordes of criminals. The fearmongering has become fact to a sizable portion of this country. Unfortunately.
