2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

If Harris is the candidate, Whitmer and Newsom not interested in VP. Shortlist appears to be Cooper, Kelly, Beshear.

Gotta figure would be a dude so can see them not even bothering with Whitmer and I assume Newsom big enough name already that wouldn’t need to bother

One of the great personal investment return rates of all time. Really high on the leaderboard possibly top 100, and those gains sure do look like pure alpha.

Yeah that makes sense. Kelly is interesting, he can spend most of his time in AZ/NV, Kamala can go hard in the Blue Wall states. Same applies to Cooper in NC/GA, though.

I think I prefer making the play in NC/GA, but that’s sort of an educated guess. There you’re trying to overcome some GOP bullshittery on election laws and E Day. In NV/AZ you are dealing with an outflow of conservatives from California, and that’s hard to quantify.

He’s the senator in AZ right? Let’s not give those seats up.

In retrospect we should’ve known it was joever once Ikes posted his Biden bets.

I believe that the Governor, a Democrat, would appoint the replacement. And that person would serve until 2026, two years before Kelly would be back up for re-election.

I think it depends on the timing, I don’t think they get the full 2 years if it’s this far out. I have a vague memory of the timing of McCain’s death being pretty important in terms of it forcing a special election whenever it happened.

I am not 100% clear on the rules, but the next primary in Arizona appears to be on 7/30

This is the law (I think):

“If a vacancy in the office of United States senator occurs more than one hundred fifty days before the next regular primary election date, the person who is appointed pursuant to subsection C of this section shall continue to serve until the vacancy is filled at the next general election. If a vacancy in the office of United States senator occurs one hundred fifty days or less before the next regular primary election date, the person who is appointed shall serve until the vacancy is filled at the second regular general election held after the vacancy occurs, and the person elected shall fill the remaining unexpired term of the vacated office.“

seems to suggest that if Kelly is selected as VP before 7/30, then his replacement would serve until 2026.

I just realized that both JD Vance and Tim Scott could have been the first vice president with a beard in a long time.

My brother in Christ, he never even watched the debate and is about to be the most wrong of everyone ITT on Joe dropping out.

@skydiver8 you expecting to hear news early or going to find out with rest of us?

Unfortunately, I don’t think Joe is going to endorse skydiver8.

Would Beshear have to resign to run? He seems like he’d be a great match for Harris. Though I’m still hoping its not Harris.

Well it’s no surprise people in Biden campaign are furious if they about to suddenly and unexpectedly lose their jobs, would love to know Biden’s actual mood
