There’s no evidence of that being a major motivator of her choice. Shapiro has a couple other negatives, Walz has some unique positives.
Walz was created in a lab for this specific political moment. He’s straight from central casting and it’s not hard to figure out why he beat out the other options. It’s actually ridiculous how many boxes he checks. He’s a dramatically upgraded version of '08 Biden basically.
I’m upset he’s too old to serve 8 years as VP and then be president probably. I suspect the publics tolerance for ancient presidential candidates may drop considerably after the 2020 and 2024 cycles… although a 100% with it Walz would be tough to beat in any election imaginable. I think he could run for Senate in a deep red state and win by 3% honestly.
If America was actually a meritocracy almost every politician would be a Walz variant just to be extremely clear.

Walz has been a positive boost across the board. Republicans are flailing to attack him and nothing is sticking. Given the excitement over him thus far I don’t even believe Shapiro’s boost within PA would exceed Walz’s general boost as it applies within PA.
In either case though, you won’t get to say itys because Harris+Walz are going to crush PA along with every other swing state.
