The russophile extreme-right and extreme-left parties were already heading for a majority in two upcoming state elections in East Germany.
Today there was a knife attack at a “festival for diversity” with at least 3 dead. The perpetrator is on the run and has been described as “arab-looking”. Not good.
The alleged perpetrator, a 26 year old Syrian asylum seeker, surrendered to the police.

It’s a good overview but I think they are really underselling the East/West divide
Not mentioned at all is that this is a trend that started after the fall of the Berlin wall when far-right extremist organizations swept in to fill the vacuum and found very fertile ground with economic despair and sky high (youth) unemployment.
They are absolutely right though about the right dominating social media (with a bunch of support from Russia).
