If Biden claims a sudden worsening and actually resigns Im sure they will try to get anything can to stick to Harris but I don’t see this part catching on. If he just drops reelection bid and remains president I do think will be a constant distraction albeit less of a distraction than if Biden himself were running again.
One of my favorite things about the 2020 election was everyone, myself included, panicking while you just kept hammering “its all good, the remaining votes to be counted will flip the results, trust the process etc etc”.

CNN top story this morning:
British election is clearly the outlier. Tories were in power for 14 years, with ever worsening and naked corruption leading to their own downfall. Labor won by appearing normal and non-crazy. Certainly no love affair for the young voters.

He’d for sure either blame it on Biden, Obama, or Clinton. Not in a, “they screwed up,” kind of way but in a “they conspired with bin Laden” kind of way.

I’m glad you have arrived on that correct conclusion. I think even half-considering him was a trauma response, which is understandable under these circumstances.
