Pretty refreshing to see them go from “Pokemon Go to the polls” to this in only 8 years.
The Harris campaign is exceeding my expectations but I did expect she’d get a massive bump simply due to being under 80. The most unexpected part to me was Biden choosing to drop out. The choice was fully in his hands, he could have surrounded himself with supporters and told his haters to fuck off, and at one point the standard he had for himself was simply to try his best.
Really going to curious if we ever know the truth of thought process. Certainly possible he had decided earlier and wanted to wait until after RNC or until felt comfortable endorsing Kamala immediately.
It seems pretty clear Nancy et al made it clear they were willing to burn it all down if he didn’t play ball.
Having the standard for yourself be ‘I tried my best’ is a good choice when you’re the nominee with the goal being to not choke. Unfortunately in this situation the man is in decline and his best was in no danger of being enough.
Let’s be real Biden is going to get a really nice slot in the history books because he found the fold in time. I swear it’s the first run good we’ve had on this cursed timeline since DJT came down those stupid stairs.
Nate has Kamala up to 42% to win the EC. Of course this comes with the disclaimer that the model is overly sensitive right now and well akshually young voters are pretty moderate - don’t think otherwise.
Given the situation a few weeks ago, I’d snap call if offered that kind of equity on Election Day, so this is actually great. And the situation is obviously fluid, and there’s a very real chance that enthusiasm keeps building, and Trump keeps being batshit crazy, and that number continues to rise.
FML though if by some miracle we manage to creep up to 67% or something by Election Day, and Trump goes and binks the 1/3 shot again like he did in 2016. That’ll be much more depressing than if we remain underdogs the whole way and just fail to break through.
