I think the downside is that older cars tend to be worse for the environment and more dangerous.
I got a new (used) car last year and it has a backup camera and a bunch of other collision avoidance features Iâd never had before.
Extending the longevity of cars could be a net positive but in the context of the economy it is an indicator of consumer sentiment and lived reality.

I think youâre confusing cars from the 00âs with cars from the mid-to-late 20th Century.
Consumer spending is fine. Cars are so reliable these days and last so much longer than before.
