COVID-19: Year 4 - You down with JN.1?

Yeah, because people who don’t believe in science are going to believe your made up “evidence” this time…

It’s just the flu anyway.

Seriously though, measles coming back isn’t going to cut it. MAYBE polio coming back and a whole mess of dead and paralyzed kids MAYBE might move the needle, but probably not.

and if kids started getting polio they would just say that it had been brought by migrants

My quick back of the envelope math based on that article leads me to believe there’s about a 1 percent chance one of the kids in that school is going to die (assuming every unvaccinated kid gets it, which, considering how contagious measles is, seems pretty likely).

A lot of vaccinated kids will get it too

So you’re saying that vaccinations don’t work? Chessmate, lib!

The vaccine has a 97 percent efficacy rate. A “lot” is doing a lot of work in that sentence. And those that are vaccinated that do get it should have extremely mild cases. It does suck for immunocompromised kids though.

It really seems like the two-pronged strategy of letting COVID rip to wreak havoc on everyone’s immune system, and allowing anti-vax morons to participate in polite society is working out about as swimmingly as one could expect.

Jfc. DeSantis and his SG need to go.

How do you F up measles response so bad.

It’s like the measles are Putin and measles
Has kompromat on those guys.

Let’s send exposed unvaccinated kids back to school with a disease with an R0 in the teens. Seeing as it’s somewhere around 8% of the kids if we have school of 500 kids they might as well stick the 40 in a room together and get it over with.

They didn’t mess it up at all. They nailed it. They’re politicians in Florida, freedom rules all. What are they supposed to do, let some pesky health of children get in the way?

These aren’t embryos we’re talking about here.

Talk about not having an immune system.

Think about, someone slams there car into a power pole and takes out hundreds of not thousands

Yes there would be double and triple backup power and liquid N2, just an extreme example

It’s almost like if you think about it for more than 10 seconds you see how absurd it is. But then again, these are not serious people.

My job was probably one of the last places to continue having a policy that, if you have covid, you can take off for the 5 day quarantine period without charging your normal sick leave accruals. I’m sure they’ll drop it now. This sucks, how incredibly stupid and shortsighted.

@CaffeineNeeded How’s covid in the ER these days compared with other respiratory issues you come across?

There’s a bazillion respiratory viruses going around. Covid is hitting old people pretty good still but its rare to admit someone <65 with it nowadays

This is interesting: https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/06/health/covid-217-shots-hypervaccination-lancet/index.html

Interesting part: The dude who got 217 Covid shots because he was helping to forge other people’s vaccine cards has never gotten covid… It’s one person so of course, variability going to be variable, but still interesting.

And it appears no negative impacts on his immune system, they thought immune system fatigue might happen but it did not.
