In what I dare say is a stunning upset, A Spoonful of Sugar ousts I’ve Got a Dream, by far the highest seed to get bumped so far. The Mob Song, another multiple-nominee, was bumped by Be Prepared, a song I’d forgotten existed (but yet voted for). Rounding out our upsets are Try Everything beating Sing Sweet Nightingale, and I Won’t Say I’m in Love beating out The Phony King of England, although these were much closer calls.
The favorites that survive and advance are Part of Your World (denied the elusive unanimous victory by my daughter), Belle, Hakuna Matata, and Once Upon a Dream.

If this were the Calvinball as has been previously suggested, I’d swap the positions of Hellfire and God Help the Outcasts so that I could sent the latter through to the round of 64 and write off the loss of Hellfire as an unfortunate draw, but instead I’ve got to cope with a great song suffering a tragic loss to a titan, a song which I like better than two songs actually up against each other. Alas, I follow my own rules.
If anyone is wondering why we’re not talking about Bruno during the alleged Encanto block, it’s because it got a first round bye, along with Surface Pressure AND The Family Madrigal.
