Unbowed by Jan. 6 Charges, Republicans Pursue Plans to Contest a Trump Defeat https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/13/us/politics/republican-election-campaign-2024.html?unlocked_article_code=1.600.5EhJ.eA77sRlsriHl
Not that anyone is surprised, but yeah they’re totally open about it:
At the heart of the strategy is a drive to convince voters that the election is about to be stolen, even without evidence. Democrats use mail voting, drop boxes and voter registration drives to swing elections, they have argued. And Mr. Trump’s indictments and criminal conviction are a Biden administration gambit to interfere with the election, they claim.
“As things stand right now, there’s zero chance of a free and fair election,” Mike Howell, a project director at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, said at an event this week. “I’m formally accusing the Biden administration of creating the conditions that most reasonable policymakers and officials cannot in good conscience certify an election.”
In Nevada and several other states, Republicans have sued to tighten rules for voting by mail — currently a method preferred by Democrats. In Georgia and Arizona, they have filed lawsuits that, if successful, would effectively give local election board members the right to hold up certification and even conduct their own personal investigation into the vote.

More evidence that the GOP only cares about life before birth:
A mom struggles to feed her kids after GOP states reject federal funds (gift link)
A new food program would have kicked in this summer, had Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt not turned down $48 million from a $2.5 billion initiative that the Biden administration calls “a giant step forward” in ending childhood hunger in the country. Though Oklahoma is one of the most food-insecure states, with surveys finding that more than 200,000 children are hungry at some point during a year, Stitt suggested the administration was “trying to push certain agenda items on kids.”
He joined 12 fellow Republican governors who ultimately refused the money, part of the bipartisan budget agreement Congress reached in 2022. Some said they were reluctant because the country is mired in debt and the government already spends heavily on child nutrition programs — more than $25 billion in fiscal 2023. Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves called the new program an attempt “to expand the welfare state.”
The GOP doesn’t actually care about life before birth either.

They started trying to run with this as more political violence against conservatives, but again it was another conservative - the family of the primary opponent.

The brown shirts being in their feelings is really funny. It’s like they don’t know how that ended in Germany or something. I wonder why I’ve never met a fascist that was at all curious about history?

Part of me is sad for Rudy, he’s a legit severe alcoholic.
It’s like there’s no one in Rudy’s life to tell him he’s out of control.
I’m sorry I refuse to have one bit of pity for Rudy. Fuck him.
