He is like any random trumper that just believes whatever he reads, but then refuses to ever recalibrate their priors when evaluating future information. Except he platforms his idiocy to millions of other gullible idiots.

That is incredibly, powerfully stupid. Zero thoughts rolling in that brain.

Retailers Locked Up Their Products—and Broke Shopping in America

Article is spot-on. I was looking for some quotes to paste here but pretty much every paragraph had me nodding my head in agreement.

Question for non-US folks: what’s it like where you are? Is this a thing in other countries?

it feels like retailers in the US started using “crime” as an excuse for their bad business models, then bamboozled themselves into spending a bunch of money locking up products and driving their own business down the toilet by pissing off their customers.

So basically they were bullshitting about theft in order to influence elections in a pro-corporation way, influence politics to get more cops patrolling and have to hire less security, and explain away bad earnings… But they got high on their own supply and wasted money securing stuff that wasn’t getting stolen and making the shopping experience worse.

Awesome!

I have enough social anxiety that I would never buy a thing that’s locked up in that way. I would just go home and order it online so I didn’t have to interact with a retail worker, or maybe I would just decide I don’t need it.
