Is the site behaving weird or improperly? Is there an emoji you can’t live without? Is there a particular setting/behavior you miss from other Discourse forums that you’d like to see here? This is the thread to let us know.

an icon for the site would be nice. i hate how it looks on the browser tab.

That is something where we may need community assistance. Graphic design is not my passion.

Discourse wants 2 logos, a main one at least 120 pixels in height with at least a 3:1 aspect ratio, and then the square one you’re talking about should be 120x120.

we regret to inform you that I am once again having trouble with twitter bots

in firefox if the tweet has a video I see this

In chrome it seems fine:

I thought this might be due to my firefox extensions but even in private mode (which should disable the extensions) I see the same thing.

I also have pihole in the mix but since this seems browser-specific I doubt that’s relevant.

also manually disabled all extensions in firefox and still no difference

It is pitch dark.

I’m not an expert, but my suspicion is that this might be related to privacy settings or something of that nature. I say that because, for me…

Normal Firefox works:

Private Firefox browser window shows the same problem you have:

However, if I take that private browser window and uncheck Firefox’s enhanced tracking protection thing…

…then it starts working in that window:

Do you have FF’s enhanced tracking protection turned on more broadly, such that it’s enabled in non-private windows for you? If so, disabling it might help.

I think I had to do the same thing on UP

I’ll probably just keep it on because fuck elon I guess?

well wait the exemption is for this site, not twitter? idk, whatever

Yeah I’m not totally sure how this all works internally and what specifically FF is blocking here. I’m just glad we found the cause and know how to fix it (if you want to).

So in the welcome thread I quoted a post and replied with an Emoji and seems the quote automatically gets edited out? Not sure how I feel about this

Thanks for mentioning that, this is a great example of the sort of thing we can tweak. Discourse has a million options. I think you were struck by this one, which defaults to on:

It is now turned off.

I can see why the default is there, in general there’s not many good reasons to quote the entire post immediately above yours.

But if someone really wants to, especially for comedic effect, they should be able to. Thanks for taking care of it.

:vince:

just doesn’t feel the same without the text above

(But I do obviously see your point)

I wonder what is causing this: On my ipad, the theme is dark mode. On my iPhone and desktop, the theme is light mode (or whatever it’s called when it’s a white background). I’ve done nothing that I’m aware of to select any mode.

It seems like those are just the defaults. I had to change to dark mode on my desktop but the first time I visited here on my iPad before even logging in it was already in dark mode.

it’s defaulting to dark on chrome iphone, white on chrome desktop

can we get API tokens for poasting?

I’m dumb and can’t find the setting for dark mode on chrome on Android phone. It’s like staring at the sun right now. Where’s the dark mode setting?

Sure, PM me about what you plan to use it for, but that’s how the Twitter bots post.

On my Android phone Chrome defaults to dark (I think it is picking up the fact that my phone is set to dark in the OS, maybe?), but if you go to your profile → preferences → interface, do you see the option to change it?
