I think part of the problem here is that the republicans have all committed lots of crimes while in office. Trump just pushed it too far and forced a prosecutor to finally charge him. Now the repubs are worried the dam is broken and they could all end up charged.
Also, today I learned that Trump was not the first president to be arrested!
Grant was not only arrested, he was booked and had to post bail lol. And this was while he was still in office!
