All you ahve to prove is that you were doing the falsifying with the intent to conceal another crime, or to aid in the commission of the other crime. You don’t actually have to do the other crime.

I’m starting to come around to the idea that Trump is going to be convicted initially at least. There’s no right to an interlocutory appeal in New York, so if this thing survives grand jury review (and I’m betting it does), then it’s going to trial. If it goes to trial in Manhattan, his best case scenario is getting a magaturd on the jury to hang it.
Edit: Unless he’s elected president. Then I have no idea what the fuck happens.
Trump got 12.3% of the vote in Manhattan. So 80% chance the jury will have at least one Trump voter on it if random. And I assume the not random aspects will fall in his favor.
But in Manhattan a decent chunk of that 12% is going to be people who wished they could vote for a Romney type, but weren’t voting against tax cuts regardless. So I wouldn’t count on Trump voters in Manhattan being Trumpy.
