this is exactly what i would do if i were in his position. don’t defend yourself on the facts of the case, make it about some other shit and pretend you’re being prevented from defending yourself because you’re being politically persucted and when they find you guilty, appeal all the way to the supreme court, except even stacked as it is i don’t know what the supremes have to gain by declaring that republican presidents get out of jail free.
