Whereupon We Pontificate About Poor Media Outlet Choices

Pugnacious! Unscripted!

God, fuck off with this. He spreads gutter Nazi lies about Haitians eating cats, then immediately walks it back with mealy-mouthed excuses the moment he’s challenged by a reporter.

CBS morning show interviewer basically spends this segment with Ta-Nehisi Coates (who handles it very deftly) about his new book (more on that in this post) by asking “so why are you such an anti-Semite?”

Lol the paper of record.

Wait, that’s not the pitchbot? Tell me that’s the pitchbot?

Just standard enemy of the people stuff.

Everybody mad that the nyt finally figured out how to farm engagement via outrage.

Dominant! Pugnacious! Defiant!

Responding to this post with some good media outlet choices interviewing Coates about his new book:

The Chris Hayes one in particular I think is really good and personal. And I haven’t listened yet but I’ve seen multiple people say that Terry Gross did a great interview with him on NPR’s Fresh Air.

every interview Coates has ever done has been good, even if the interviewer is bad

Not politics, but seems like it fits here best.

That’s very likely just snuff. Something like this:

Fox News: daily master class in framing for maximum outrage:

The volleyball story is especially absurd to anyone who knows the sport. She is nowhere near the player they are making her out to be. And all of the teams boycotting matches with SJSU have played them previously with her on the team and beat them.

Purely political stunt.

:shocked_pika:

ETA: Colorado State played SJSU last night and beat them.

They seem to find an actual example every 2-3 years (the Penn swimmer) plus some other red herrings (Olympics).

An actual example of what, though? This appears to be an example of a trans woman playing in sports, which I think is fine and unremarkable. If you want to actually get me concerned about the integrity of women’s sports, I’d need an example of a trans woman who is not just winning but winning by at least as much as e.g. Katy Ledecky or Simone Biles dominate their competition in their best events, and specifically in a sport where the complainant could name 3 active players prior to learning about the existence of the trans woman’s participation.
