Plausible in that in isolation it could happen? Sure. Plausible that it could happen in an environment where Biden is losing Virginia and nationwide? No. 2018 was a Dem +8.6% popular vote year.

I mean, Texas is not play for the Senate no matter what but Cruz will absolutely perform worse than Trump. In 2020 Warner won VA by 12 and Biden won by 10 while Cornyn won TX by 9.5 and Trump won by 5.5. This time around Cruz is less popular than Cornyn, Biden is much less popular than he was and Trump’s standing has probably increased. So yes, it’s 100% plausible that Kaine can win by 10 and Trump/Cruz flip flop the Trump/Cornyn dynamic from last time and Trump wins by 10 or so while Cruz takes a much narrower 4-5ish point victory.

I don’t think that’s going to matter very much when the opposition ads are about how Donald wants to take away overtime and rapes 12-13 year old girls two at a time. Not on balance.
