If I were a minority or married to one I would be exploring options. It seems Spain/Ireland/Portugal/Italy are all doable but you need a job or a lot of cash.

That’s a good question. What actually is Biden’s path to victory? Because Orange Man bad doesn’t look like it’s enough this time.

Think just being frequently visible with minimal senile appearing moments and a united message from all Ds just constantly attacking Trump is what he has to do now. Probably can get more into policy stuff later if things go “well” but got to keep things simple now. Trying to convey too much was one the debate issues.

ETA- I still think it worth Ds giving him one last go to to push him out if this week NATO stuff doesn’t go well or if the will to push him out is more united than current reporting seems

They have zero message beyond Orange Man Bad, I guess the play is to hope people are tired of Trumpism and they can squeak by again with the 2020 formula.

With respect to the narrative of “why isn’t the media asking TRUMP to step down” – there’s a distinction that had Democrats understood how diminished Biden is 9 months ago, they would have fought hard for the right to nominate someone else. The same is not true for Republicans and Trump.

I guess talking about Project 2025 is the new big Dem talking point.

As far as I can tell the “strategy” is to unskew the polls and harangue anyone who dares say Biden should step aside. In the history of being joever it’s never been more joever.

I think there is some talking past each other going ITT, that maybe a poll would help clear up. Let’s give it a shot.

  • Joe Biden should step out of the race PRIMARILY because he is less likely to win than a replacement candidate
  • Joe Biden should step out of the race PRIMARILY because he is severely diminished with age and we deserve a better choice
  • Joe Biden should stay in the race PRIMARILY because weighing all factors, he’s got the best chance to beat Trump
  • Joe Biden should stay in the race PRIMARILY because he won the nomination fair and square, and the debate is not that big of a deal

I think Joe staying in the race is absolutely horrible for the country and the world long term regardless of what happens in November. A cynic couldn’t ask for more powerful argument to undermine faith in liberal democracy than Trump vs Biden, The Sequel:

Problem is, he’s not capable of a united, coherent message. He pivoted from abortion to Laken Riley. Electorally, this is the big problem.

And Biden failed to mention it in the debate, the radio interviews, or the ABC interview. If you asked him what it was, I’m not convinced he could tell you.

He should step out of the race because he’s less likely to win than a replacement. He should step out of the presidency right away because he is so severely diminished.

And before anyone comes at me with whatabout Trump, were better than that. Let’s at least make the bar for cognitive ability for the presidency Dubya.

If we somehow knew for sure that he had 50% win equity from here, but that if he stepped out, that his replacement would have 49.9% win equity, then should he stay in?

Trump is such a threat, and the people around Biden seem competent enough that I would take the higher equity in general. Although 50% vs 49.9% I probably take the replacement. But 50 vs 49 I don’t.

Lol Politico has an article about a poll that shows in head to head matchups Biden < Trump < Kamala < HRC.

Surprised it took HRC this long to get her name in the mix.

Holy shit, Biden polling behind in a district he carried with 62%.

It’s written in sub-fifth grade English

At this point, my only wish is for whatever wrath Trump unleashes be felt by Joe and everyone he loves first.
