So based on conventional wisdom, that would be a good thing for the Dems, right? Turnout will probably be lower for both sides, but it sure as hell seems like GOP voters have lost more enthusiasm than Dem voters.
I don’t follow turnout stuff much, is there a good explanation? I would think a lot of that had to do with increased utilization of early/mail voting and I know Rs trying to make things hard but hasn’t seemed to have gone away

It’s solid if your goal is to sacrifice any chance of getting it right for a good excuse for being wrong.

Nothing because of weekend plus holiday.

After the second interruption went on for several minutes, the former president said he had asked security to open the doors to the venue to alleviate some of the heat inside.
“Would anybody else like to faint? Please raise your hand,” Trump quipped after the second individual was helped to their feet.
Rather than continue with questions, he indicated that he wanted his staff to play more of his music. They obliged, playing “Time to Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti and “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown.
“We could do another question or two if you’d like,” Trump said, eliciting cheers from the crowd, before changing his mind. “How about this? We’ll play ‘YMCA,’ and we’ll go home.”

NYT tomorrow: Kamala loses “Fun Dancer” title to Groovin’ Donald Trump
Interesting/weird polling leaked from GOP internals. Casey only +2 in Pennsylvania, Baldwin only +1 in Wisconsin, but Brown +6 in Ohio, Cruz only +1 in Texas, and they describe, “Nebraska as “a serious trouble-spot” where they are polling to “assess whether intervention is necessary” to help GOP Sen. Deb Fischer. (The incumbent released a poll last week showing her up 6 points.)”
Tester 4 down in Montana, as well. That means we need a flip, I just don’t buy that it’s going to happen in Texas. Nebraska or maybe Florida seem unlikely but more likely than Texas.
In 2026 we have one tough one to defend (Ossoff in Georgia) and two viable flips - Collins in Maine and Tillis in North Carolina. So being at 49 after 2024 at least gives us a good chance to get a trifecta in 2026.
