I am begging, absolutely begging, Democrats to have Kamala lead the charge on a proposal to give amnesty to undocumented immigrants with no criminal history who volunteer 3? 6? months of free labor to help with hurricane recovery in FL/GA/NC/TN. Get them there, put them up in FEMA mobile housing, and feed them for free on the government dime.
Forces a bunch of racists to confront the fact that the people they hate are literally helping to bail them out of the worst disaster of their lives if it passes, which makes it REALLY hard to demonize these people. And I have a feeling it changes a few hearts and minds.
But the GOP will never vote for it, so the reality is you get to slam Trump/GOP for voting against something that would help keep costs down to rebuild people who were just slammed by a hurricane in THREE SWING STATES six weeks before an election. Yeah, it might cost you some votes from racists in some places, but it may also win you GA and NC and put FL more in play. I have a feeling some Trumpers who lost everything might realize Daddy is a piece of shit when he comes out in favor of them going and fucking themselves after a catastrophe.
