What the actual fuck man…

Just like the polls showing black voters breaking like 25% for Trump all of a sudden, this either shows we’re undergoing a massive populist shift towards authoritarianism/fascism and WAAF forever and ever, or the polls are completely fucked all to hell this cycle. Option B seems a lot more likely but who the hell knows.

Feel that way too but I would feel better if we had a concrete explanation of why the polls wrong mechanistically. Like I immediately think who the hell is a 18-30yo who going to talk to a pollster on phone but I don’t see a direct story from how that favors Trump or why it would have changed so much in 4 years

“Gangs of Hatians stealing and eating pets” it’s like he’s trying to win a game of racism bingo.

I know they not doing it intentionally but is there some sort of journalistic rule/consensus on when a journalist can say a statement is a “lie”?

I don’t recall ever being taught that. I’d go with: it’s untrue and they almost certainly (since you can’t prove it) know it’s untrue.

I understand why responsible journalists are hesitant to call something a lie. It requires insight into someone’s state of mind which is basically impossible.

Much easier to just say things are “false”, “wrong”, “without evidence” etc.

It’s easy to believe that Trump could read some dumb shit on social media and repeat it, blindly assuming it’s true. A bit harder to believe for Vance, but certainly possible.

Interestingly, the prohibition against calling something a lie seems more relaxed in one specific case: the so-called “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen.

The national polls look a little :harold: today too, think this debate coming right on time. Really hope we got the swift endorsement on tap in Oct but I worry about all the NFL exposure

Don’t worry about the nationals! Swing states

I know better than to take the NC hopium but man flipping NC would be sweet. No particular pandering/etc just get a good ticket and do some normal campaigning and winning there would be incredible. Getting tired PA this and PA that constantly

The guy in my neighborhood with an RFK Jr. sign still has that sign up, I guess not ever letting the dream die.

May need a welfare check for him.

Harris really gets it, like she may not win but it’s not because she didn’t understand Trump

—-
“He’s played through this really old entire playbook where there’s no floor for him in terms of how low he will go,” Harris said. “And we should be prepared for that, we should be prepared for the fact that he is not burdened by telling the truth.”

We should be prepared for the fact he’s probably going to speak a lot of untruth,” she went on. “He tends to fight for himself, not for the American people, and I think that’s going to come out during the debate. I think he’s gonna lie.”
