I seeded the 1-16 seed songs, four of each. I didn’t formally randomize or structure the songs within each seed group. I just entered them into the bracket without care and let the chips fall as they will. (17-27 seeds were formally randomized).

  • I’m a little iffy about Let It Go being a #1 seed, but it’s not 2018 Virginia or 2023 Purdue either. Next.
  • Going with the upset minded Mary Poppins over the solid, but overseeded Prince Ali.
  • Gaston is a classic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it made the Final Four.
  • Picking my girl Cruella, but I Wanna Be Like You is a tough 5/12 matchup.
  • I said that there were probably 2 seeds I would pick One Jump Ahead over. Not this one.
  • Snowman song in what is my toughest choice of this round.
  • Tarzan song is fine, but I don’t know how it got a 3 seed. Toy Story song easily.
  • I’ll take This Is Halloween over a pretty generic song from Moana.

It won an Oscar. Oscar winners are all of the1-3 seeds, and 2 of the 4 seeds. The other two 4 seeds are our most-nominated songs. I did seed within the Oscar winners, though, so the 1s and 2s are going to be very strong, but the 3s and 4s are much more likely for upsets.

It’s got 3.2 BILLION views on youtube for the top video for it (and it won an Oscar). I don’t think there’s another song in this bracket with half that many.

Julie Andrews doesn’t have a single note in that song! I might be a little more sympathetic to it if she did. I mean, she’s on Can’t You Feel the Love Tonight over One Jump ahead, even though One Jump Ahead has as much Robin Williams as Kite has Julie Andrews.
