Wasn’t this guy employed in Iceland, or did he move to California? Rich guy saying ‘F you no’ might work well in USA but this may fall under jurisdiction of a different court system and If Twitter has assets or business in that country then they may find the rules are different.

lol now elon’s begging this guy to stay. twitter dorks are saying part of the deal of the acquisition of this guy’s company was the $100 million deal would be paid in full upon termination, or something. Either something like that or elon’s lawyers convinced him somehow that the resulting lawsuit will be many, many multiples of this guy’s salary.

If this dude baited Elon into publicly laying him off to collect on a $100M contract Elon didn’t know about, that’s pretty elite. That might actually make him important enough to not get fucked in court, too. You can fuck over plebes out of like $100K or $1M if you’re a billionaire, but I’m not sure you can fuck someone over out of a contractually obligated $100M. The capitalism has to work, still.

This is true. Lawyer’s contingency on $100 mm plus treble damages buys some pretty fucking good lawyers.
In this dude’s tax bracket I would just pay their hourly as long as it went even if I had to get a loan. No fucking way I’m giving my lawyers a %. Someone good will still take it the hourly will be bonkers. I’m not convinced that in this spot they need to be that good (they need to be good but not Nestle slavery lawsuit defense good). Elon has really fucked himself here.
