Currently listening to a book called the Murderbot Diaries where the main character is a mashup of a human and robot who performs a bunch of data mining on the people he works for. Directly relevant? Nah, but I like the series so far

I read the first couple books in the series and I definitely remember thinking of the MurderBot as female, so when you wrote “he” I did some googling
 It turns out MB, being a part-robot construct, doesn’t have a gender or sex. There are some interesting discussions about it online (along with some garbage, as always when the neckbeards think a sci-fi author has ventured into the “woke” zone).

But yeah, a fun series, with a protagonist that’s got a unique and humorous voice. How is the reader in the audiobook version?

oh shit I should have said it! They make a big deal about it.

Both my wife and I really like the reader for the audiobook. Book 3 and 4 are my favorite. I’m in the middle of book 5 (which is novel length unlike the others). My wife has finished it and likes 5 the most.

And it’s always been “woke”. The author explicitly states various same sex and poly relationships from the beginning and it’s just stated as objective fact.
