Elon Musk: Making Crap Cars since 2003

Funny to see Liv Boeree here, didnā€™t realize she was a total deplorable

Would be fascinating to see an actual video feed of what musk does during his typical week. Feels like he is probably sitting in meetings but just shit posting on Twitter the whole time

Imagine thinking the takeaway here is ā€œChatGPT is a victim of woke institutional captureā€ as opposed to ā€œChatGPT is pretty bad at elementary moral reasoningā€.

In the post Iā€™m replying to, Levine wrote about Elon skipping out on the bills for a company Twitter paid (before Elon owned it) to provide testimony against him:

Theyā€™re not the only ones! It turns out Elonā€™s commitment to not paying bills also extends to companies that did much less objectionable work for Twitter:

Shortly after college, I was doing freelance web development on the side for a mid-sized company (now valued at about $50M, presumably much smaller back then). They hired me at a discount rate to build a site in a platform I was using for the first time, and I warned them up front there would be some speed bumps and thatā€™s why they were getting such a low hourly rate from me. They were happy to accept.

Along the way, their co-founder then hired me to build his personal website for him. The primary founder also recommended me to one of his friends who owned another company, and I did some work for them.

There were the aforementioned speed bumps along the way, but everything got resolved fine - I pulled a couple all nighters to fix some issues. Eventually my rate got bumped a couples times, still on the low end for the lin eof work.

After maybe two years they fired me and refused to pay my last invoice, accusing me of gross incompetence. When I pushed back, they offered to pay me 33% of what they owed. I called a lawyer, who told me Iā€™d be a lock to win in court, but also a lock to spend more money on legal representation than Iā€™d get out of it, and told me to take the 33%, so I did.

A few weeks later, the co-founder reached out to me privately to do some more work on his website, and said I did good work and the rest was just business. I told him no way. Six months later the old friend of the primary founder reached back out to me about doing more work, and told me heā€™d lost my number and gotten it from the founder again with a renewed recommendation.

So I assume, ā€œFuck you Iā€™m not paying, you canā€™t make me,ā€ is a common tool for the wealthy whether theyā€™re Trump/Elon level clowns or 8 figure net worth CEOs.

This reminds me off the many contractors Trump stiffed who still voted for him. There are always more suckers to exploit.

Lock him up!

Twitter seems to be imploding

yea canā€™t post any tweets get ā€œyouā€™ve posted too many tweets todayā€ or whatever message

Yeah I canā€™t tweet

lol this is like an uber sev1 error thatā€™s been going on for over an hour and a half, oops someone shouldnā€™t have fired his entire SRE team - theyā€™re probably the only ones on earth that know whatā€™s wrong if this isnā€™t solved within the hour.

Honestly itā€™s a miracle things ran as smoothly as they did for so long.

appears to have cleared up on my end. thatā€™s a surprising error for a surprising amount of time though. Iā€™d expect a rollback procedure to any update they pushed to be much faster for an error like that, or at least be caught in pre-production/test/staging environments before it goes live. my money is on something fubar happened.

youtube had a major outage today too - canā€™t tell if related

Some somewhat rando on Twitter was saying Twitter was using the api they made private or whatever

Rep. Sessions: ā€œGod bless Elon Musk, because I think I feel that way. It was Elon Musk that revealed data that uncovered a disturbing cabal.ā€ https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1623411619848937479/video/1

fuck, republicans are going bail out musk out of the twitter deal, by giving him a special tax refund

lol so incredibly Trump-like:

At this point we can only conclude his other companies have only been successful in spite of him, right? Or owing to things like his ability to raise money and generate hype when he is so clearly clueless at the job of actually running a company?
