Enough Republicans have now voted to oust that it’s a done deal as long as all democrats vote as expected.

So now we just do endless votes like last time?

OK maybe this was incorrect due to some people not present for the vote.

Hot take, McCarthy was a much better speaker than I expected him to be.

Not following closely but isn’t him getting re elected speaker through some deal still the most likely overall outcome?

Right, issue is whether the inevitable deal is with Dems or crazies

Nobody else wants the job for obvious reasons

he’s gone? lol

good night sweet prince

Speaker Taylor-Greene time?

Depends. If McCarthy throws int he towel I think republicans vote for a new speaker fairly quickly.

I think the most likely outcome is him throwing in the towel.

Gaetz was interviewed stating he’d support Scalise. Honestly, if McCarrthy throws in the towel and Scalise runs, I think he wins fairly easily. People just fucking did not like McCarthy.

The current debt ceiling deadline is in January 2025, and then it would take a few months after that to actually default. The only way we default as a direct consequence of this is if the House stays completely shut down for 15 months (including a lengthy government shutdown), and the GOP wins in 2024 despite that.

Isn’t Scalise getting treated for cancer?

we had a walking corpse as a senator for like 3 years and mcconnel strokes out on camera regularly, there are no standards
