Would actual violence against a member (or their family member) break the MAGA spell and get the *moderatesā€ to form a coalition?

Paging @sweetsummerchild

It is an interesting question, particularly depending on how Trump reacted to it.

I sort of agree, but Iā€™d say McHenry not McCarthy. Dems wonā€™t help McCarthy because they donā€™t trust him, and the people who started this shitshow look even dumber if McCarthy gets back in.

The ā€˜breaking pointā€™ isnā€™t violence itā€™s what the Democrats did in Minnesota. The only political issue that matters right now is ā€˜are you owned by the wealthy and thus canā€™t do anything that would mildly disrupt the status quo?ā€™

This is the reason my political donations now are always 100% to Democratic primary campaigns. Itā€™s the best value for money out there if youā€™re trying to actually make the world a better place. These insurgent campaigns tend to spend the money very efficiently and when they win it changes the situation in a meaningful way.

If Democrats had handled their trifecta the way the MN Dems handled theirs we would be headed in a very positive direction right now economically and politically as a country. Once someone does the stuff itā€™ll be nearly impossible to unwind. Thereā€™s a reason why despite decades of attempts to get rid of them social security, medicare, and medicaid all still exist.

So thatā€™s the core problem, not the GOP who are intellectually bankrupt scammers, but corporate Democrats who kill positive momentum from within. The voters gave Democrats the house, the Senate, and the presidency so that the Democrats would right the ship, and that was prevented by corporate plants that limited the damage to the status quo that would have entailed.

McCarthy with the nomination speech for gym.

Not sure this is a Ted Cruz phone moment.

Jordan always voted for McCarthy for the initial speaker election (even when Jordan got double digit votes himself). And he wasnā€™t one of the 8 that voted to boot him.

Jesus. How much does that guy beat his wife?

Thereā€™s going to be like 30+ no votes for Gym.

So apparently Gymmer is considering holding non-stop votes all weekend, but some GOP members may leave and the Dems may be able to hold firm. If a handful of GOP reps leave and no Dems do, thatā€™ll be Speaker Jeffries.

Goddamn would that be a hilarious outcome. The GOP getting the nominal majority and then just deciding it was too much trouble to govern and handing it back to the Dems would be chefs kiss perfect.

Iā€™m wondering if itā€™s easier for ā€œmoderateā€ Rā€™s to leave and let Jeffries have the numbers than to stay and vote against Jordan or vote for a McHenry coalition. Like the own goal would get blamed on Gaetz and Jordan, right? Not on the moderates or McCarthy/McHenry supporters? Whereas the people making death threats arenā€™t going to like cutting a deal with the libs to empower McHenry.
