Right but if they’re in the minority they can’t actually do anything, which is eventually going to be an issue for rich people. And if they can’t get a majority that includes 218 people willing to go along with the Jim Jordans, after this, I’m not sure they can ever maintain a governing majority. Presumably the bigger the majority the more of their caucus that’s going to be anti-HFC/Jordan.

It helps explain, in turn, the dysfunction of the last decade. If the goal is to promote conservative ideology, then what matters, for Republican politicians, is how well they adhere to and promote conservatism. The key issue for conservative voters and conservative media isn’t whether a Republican politician can pass legislation or manage a government or bridge political divides; the key question is whether a Republican politician is sufficiently committed to the ideology, whatever that means in the moment. And if conservatism means aggrieving your enemies, then the obvious choice for the nation’s highest office is the man who hates the most, regardless of what he believes.

I was going to make a joke about how Pence’s secret service agents have the easiest job in the world* but I always fact-check my jokes before dropping them so I learned that former VPs only get 6 months of protection.

I thought drawing new maps is a once-every-ten-years thing, but I guess competitive House elections aren’t something North Carolina Republicans can just idly allow to happen.
NC’s congressional delegation is currently 7D, 7R but would shift to 10-4 or 11-3 based on these new maps.
The only possible solution to the GOP pulling this bullshit in the house would be to gerrymander the blue states to the point where CA has like 1 GOP house member and NY has 0. Which is what we should have done in response to the GOP doing that in their states.
Taking the high road vs the GOP really is ‘I get paid to lose’ corporate shill shit. I will not hear otherwise. Do unto others as they would do unto you is my version of the golden rule. I see no reason I should treat anyone better than they would treat me if the situations were reversed. There’s absolutely nothing redemptive about victimhood no matter what the people with martyr complexes might want you to believe.
