My guess is the honeymoon is over after these temporary CRs. I don’t think the right wing of the GOP will let him do another CR in January with significant Dem votes, or let him pass a full budget that way without paying with the gavel.
That said, he is part of the right wing of the GOP, so I don’t think he’ll want to do that anyway. But I also think that one’s willingness to compromise has to increase at least a little when one is about to be personally responsible for a lengthy government shutdown. That’s a lot of people to put out of work, so if it’s a situation where the right gets concessions but they’re “not enough” he may be inclined to get the Dem votes and claim victory.
Of course the thing there is Dems have the White House and Senate, so it’s hard to see them giving him much of a win. It’s a small miracle we’ve made it to January 2024 without this shutdown happening.
“As I’ve said for months now, our colleague from Alabama’s response is not, not, the way to reach the desired outcome he and I share. In fact, it’s created a nearly unprecedented situation for the Senate to address,” McConnell said.
Nevertheless, the GOP leader voted with other Republicans against the resolution.
Always the hypocrisy. Nothing wrong with a long running three-way adventure unless you are a champion of “don’t say gay” and co-found Moms for Liberty. Really bad when your husband (allegedly) commits DV on the extra-marital partner.
saw some derp on linkedin sharing some plandemic and qanon shit out of nowhere so some crazy’s in the air for sure. like they’re basically suing a private company based on non-existent and made up promises the public government made which they also would have violently resisted out of pure spite even if forced to. it’s just kabuki theater to get the masses riled up, or they’re an effect of it, but some propaganda is definitely going around again.
