I think it was theater at some point but a lot of the people being voted into office now now truly and completely believe the crazy things. Their right wing media and social media has concocted this cocoon of alternate reality in which they can live and never actually be confronted with how their perspective differs from truth. They just accept it all and think anyone is crazy to not believe the lies because they’re surrounded by it 24/7. For them, the evidence is everywhere and overwhelming.

There is unfortunately a lot of money to be made as a comedian right now by appealing to the MAGA crowd. Hard to know who has really been infected by the brain worms and who is just in it for the grift. Not that either is an excuse.
