Not the typical argument someone gives hoping for favorable treatment from the court
Igor Girkin in court asked for a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest.
“The investigator’s statement that I can hide abroad is frankly ridiculous, I am wanted by Interpol in most countries of the world, I have been sentenced by the Hague Tribunal to life imprisonment for a crime that I did not commit,” he said.
Been following this less since Twitter restricted non user browsing, feel like I’ve seen few articles last few days about peace talks/security guarantees/etc. Is this the usual chatter or things actually starting to move in that direction?
Seeing stuff about more drone attacks on Moscow government agency high rise offices. I’m not entirely sure how this is a net positive for Ukraine as seems like nato not too keen on attacks in civilian Russian areas (even if the targets are government) but obviously Ukraine would be pretty well positioned to weigh the pros/cons of this
I think Ukraine probably sees the endgame as destabilizing Putin’s regime (not unrealistic given what’s happened in the past few months). Attacks in Moscow probably help that, but they are damned risky.
That was and maybe still is the mindset of many NATO countries. It made sense when the wars were fought in a limited capacity in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Mali etc. Everyone underestimated or ignored the threat Russia posed and still many aren’t adapting.
