I’ve seen first hand how that goes with the Port of LA. Give anyone, unions included, way more power than anyone should have and bad stuff happens. Those bad things are mostly the result of there being two parties fighting and nearly all the damage they do lands on a third party that isn’t involved. Turns into the landscapers plotline of S5 of the Sopranos incredibly quickly.
But yes I think they should have gotten a significantly better deal. More pressure could have been applied to the railroads for sure. They need to staff back up to regular boring less profitable staffing levels for sure… which would let them do things like have rail workers have normal amounts of time off.
Politicians are weirdos in general because it takes a certain type of person to deal with the shit they have to deal with to get the job. I think most normal people would be like the guy who ran against MTG in 2020 then dropped out after a month of campaigning because the pressure was too much for him.
Yah it’s a rhetorical question I’m sure, but the job self-selects for weirdos with giant egos that aren’t able to use their “considerable talents” in “the real world”.
RE: This stupid laddered CR that’s gonna get passed soon:
But even if Democrats were going to try to put up a fight or haggle for concessions in exchange for their support, it seems no one really has the energy to do so. Several Democrats told us bluntly Monday night that the House has been in session for 10 straight weeks and members are ready to go home and celebrate Thanksgiving.
Adams has a long and proud relationship with the Turkish-American community of New York City, and he has made a half a dozen trips to Turkey. The FBI is also looking into those trips and one of the locations searched on November 2 was the residence of an executive from Turkish Airlines.
Can someone explain to me like a child why NYC is this incompetently managed? Just a national embarrassment of a global city, can’t even manage to fund libraries.
