The right-wing justices are acting like Republican politicians who believe they are obligated to delay the trial of their party leader as long as possible and potentially prevent it from happening. This is not simply my jaded assessment. Today, Speaker Johnson told Fox News, “I think that the Justices on the Court—I know many of them personally—I think they are deeply concerned about that, as we are. So I think they’ll set this straight.”
Not gonna lie, couldn’t place Dean Philips. Was he the ND Gov that ran for the R nom in 2024? Nope that was Doug Burgem. Was he the R congressman that joined Liz Cheney on the Jan 6 committee? No that was Adam Kinzinger. Was he the HOF second baseman in the 80s and 90s for the Cubs? No that was Ryne Sandberg….
Just another in the long line of idiots who blew up their careers because they thought they were special. In this case he tried to primary Biden for about 2 weeks.
He’s a sports talk radio/tv/podcast host who has generally seemed to lean conservative politically and has had borderline racist sports takes in the past.
Rather than shunning Trump’s escalating authoritarian language or ensuring they will provide checks and balances for a second Trump term, the Republican senators and representatives are upturning longstanding faith in U.S. governance, and setting the stage for what they plan to do if Trump regains power.

Trump’s attorney, David Warrington, sent ProPublica a cease-and-desist letter demanding this article not be published. The letter warned that if the outlet and its reporters “continue their reckless campaign of defamation, President Trump will evaluate all legal remedies.”
