lol trump’s clearly feeling so threatened by desantis, it’s hilarious
woops i mean desanctus. we absolutely want trump to win the nom, but I’m not sure desantis is a real threat to him at all

I’ve been thinking about this the last few days and I’ve come to the conclusion that if DeSantis wins the nomination and Trump isn’t dead/incapacitated Trump is 100% going to sink DeSantis’s chances of winning the general.
First DeSantis will have to go FULL crazy mode to win the primary and that won’t help him in the general. Second Trump will be screaming at the top of his lungs that the primary was rigged, he was robbed, and patriots don’t vote. 2020 would have been a lot less close if Trump wasn’t so good at driving turnout from the GOP base. I don’t see any reason to expect the 2024 election to have different results than the 2022 or 2018 elections without Trump on the ballot.
I think there are far more ‘only Trump’ voters than there are ‘never Trump’ voters in the GOP base.

desantis won’t win, but he’s gonna shift the conversation in a really horrible way and he needs to be defeated soundly by trump in a way that makes it harder for him to run in the future, because he’s still pretty young.
