He kept going. Over the course of early Friday morning, with a short break, Musk issued dispatches blasting the Washington Post, former Twitter executives and employees and, perhaps most significantly, a recent report alleging that Musk deployed engineers to hyperboost his tweets to Twitter’s entire user base with a feature known internally as the “power user multiplier.”

Of the report, Musk alleged that the individual who leaked the intel to Platformer (which first broke the news) was “a disgruntled employee who had been on paid time off for months, had already accepted a job at Google and felt the need to poison the well on the way out.” He also claimed that “Twitter will be taking legal action against him.” (Platformer heads Casey Newton and Zoë Schiffer disputed the claim.)

Then, he replied to what appeared to be an already-scheduled tweet from the Washington Post that expanded on Platformer’s initial reporting about boosting his tweets. (A spokesperson for the Post did not immediately respond when asked whether the tweet was scheduled.) Musk, in his response, was seemingly incensed.

“Your article is false and obviously so,” he said, linking back to the tweet he posted in the witching hours. “Do you really do no research at all? I mean, like reading a few tweets, for example.”

He then responded in earnest to what appeared to be a s—tpost. “Elon not only do I follow you but I frame every one of your tweets and hang them up on my walls,” tweeted @greg16676935420. (“Nice,” Musk said back.)

he has the info in front of him that shows him he’s not nearly as popular as he thinks he is, no matter how much he wants to distort it to himself, he can’t escape it, and will go further and further to maintain the delusion until it breaks, and then comes the collapse and/or rage. I think we might be in the rage phase.

sure democracy might die and people are gonna suffer all over the world because of it but hey it’s at least gonna be a little funny to watch him collapse in on himself as a consolation prize

sometimes I wonder if elons are created or born. was he always this way? given how much he’s lied about his background and education for 20+ years I’m led to believe yes, but I struggle to find how someone this obviously deficient in so many areas has found any success at all.

Yeah reading about Trump’s upbringing I would say the parenting had a lot to do with it, but being a parent myself and having friends with toddlers it is actually really humbling how much of your kid’s nature is out of your control.

In the end I think it’s got to be both working together
