Spend two weeks waiting for data from customer, a day testing, half a day opening defect tickets and they arenât being picked up because no one is fucking sure weâre supposed to be displaying that data on this projectâŚ
Local cobbler is an Eastern European immigrant, probably in his 70s, and seems pretty introverted. Iâve had him do work on both shoes and some weird luggage issues, he does great work, reasonable prices though not cheap. Heâs not talkative, but of course Iâm not paying him to be my friend.
Anyway, whenever someone asks about a cobbler in the neighborhood social media, someone always makes a âis that the mean guyâ comment. Like thatâs where we are in this fucked up society. If youâre not a bubbly outgoing person, youâre âmeanâ and to these fucked up shitbags thatâs all they see, the quality of work and value means nothing to them, they just need constant butt kissing and obsequiousness. Fuck off. Seriously, go fuck yourself. Really just can not even imagine dealing with these absolute fuckheads.

Eh, weâre getting closer to the point where college for everyone except the Uber-rich is basically a flat fee, where that flat fee is going to be x percent of your salary for the next 20 years after you graduate depending on whatever the government sets IBR at. Itâs not ideal, but itâs also better than it was pre-Biden. Assuming that a college degree still increases a personâs potential earnings by more than that percentage, going to college will still be +EV.
The courts are already working through challenges to that socialist save program so Iâm sure itâll be struck down sometime in the next couple of years. Then we can get back to infinite dollars for a degree like god and the founders intended.

So only kind of fits the category but Iâm putting it here.
Driving in a four lane road with a middle lane to turn left, Iâm cruising straight going about 45mph, car pulls into the shared lane to turn left. They have enough time to go but they donât, and then suddenly decide to turn right in front of me.
Full panic ABS assisted stop maybe 5 feet from them, hand on the horn because Iâm dumb.
I go to flick them off and I see that thereâs a cop car on the street they turned onto. I make a wtf gesture towards the cop, he gives me a thumbs up, pulls a U turn, and pulls them over,
So angry yes, then laughed hard as hell. Cops are never just there for that kind of shit

Heh. I interact with cops a lot more than the average person because of work, and I gotta say Iâve had zero bad incidents with our local PDs. I had issues with NYPD and surrounding PDs all the time.
Even had a cop bring in someone who they thought was a DUI (and reasonably so, she talked about drinking to the cop after a weird single car accident). He treated her with respect, got video of the incident proving she had a seizure, and got her released in less than 45 minutes. NYPD would never do that shit. Fuck Iâve had them not arrest people for obvious DUIs
Yeah from a professional standpoint I actually have surprisingly good interactions with how police treat folks I work with, ironically one the most frustrating things for us is once they identify someone as being a âmental healthâ case (even if they primarily just voluntarily doing bad shit) seems they just let them do whatever the hell they want including perpetually threatening people, severe harassment, property damage, etc.
