really getting sick of “notifications” from apps/websites that are just ads. Twitter and LinkedIn are the worst offenders. I’ve turned off phone notifications for both of them, but my notifications on both are full of shit like “subscribe to @incel69420 to get the latest tweets”. Linkedin was particularly infuriating when I had app notifications on because it would give a push notification that wouldn’t even tell you what the notification was, just that you had one (they were forcing you to actually “engage” with their app to see what it is). fuck off.

Every time I visit LinkedIn (3-4x a week) I get an email pushing the app or something. Glad I only go in through a browser.
yea linkedin is one of the worst culprits of bullshit notifications. always open the app to 30+ and none of it matters at all. I know it’s to drive engagement or something, but it actually makes me open the app less often.
Instagram is awful with this.
My neighborhood has an ice cream truck that goes by in the summer. Still very much a thing in the US afaict. It would rule so hard if RZA came up with a better jingle.

instagrams totally falling off. they became more aggressive at placing promoted posts into normal timeline, and in about 2 weeks the algorithm switched from almost exclusively showing cat videos to showing almost exclusively girls modeling accounts and ads of porn manga. i guess it’s better than q adjacent yoga accounts
any time someone makes a slightly negative post about leaf blowers on facebook neighborhood group/nextdoor etc, oh my god people are fucking addicted to leaf blowers and react like you just took a shit on their mother

driving across northern mississippi today, stopped at chick-fil-a in Corinth, MS to pee and get a bite.
two guys come in behind me, they’re wearing uniform black pants, black polos, their pants are like… tactical? They have little pockets for pens and shit, like something paramedics would wear. Black steel-toed boots (but they look more sneaker-ish than combat bootish). No insignia or markings on thier uniforms. And they’re open carrying. No official vehicles in the parking lot. Just another day in USA #1.
